Primary duties

The position is within the Skanska Group Headquarters, group function Skanska Financial Services (SFS). SFS is one of the support organisations within the Skanska group. As Senior Insurance Specialist you will work at the insurance department which, together with Structured Finance, is a part of Project Advisory.

The Insurance Department has, as of now, two employees with solid experience within the area. The main area of responsibility involves structuring and establishing the Skanska Group’s insurance programs. These include e.g. contract, property, cyber, liability, financial lines, engine- and transport insurance.

An important part of the responsibilities as a Senior Insurance Specialist is to act as an advisor and expert within the organization and to give service to those who require help. Furthermore, the position also involves administration, structure, method and process to ensure high quality in the current insurance programs.

In order to succeed in this position you need to acquire knowledge of the specific needs of the Skanska Group as well as the individual business units so that you are able to tailor the insurance programs in the best way possible. Communication and pedagogical skills are important, and it is up to you to make the insurance process easy to understand for the business units.

The Insurance Department at SFS also supports local insurances functions based in the business units in the Nordic market, central Europe and the UK. At times the support also includes our business units in the USA

To some extent the position includes operative work, for example handling of major and complex damage.

Skanska also have a captive in Europe which both employees are involved in, work includes practical damage management as well as administration, risk management and development of captive operations.

As Senior Insurance Specialist you work closely with the insurance broker market as well as directly with insurance companies.

Travels are included in the position, mainly within Europe. Prior to the pandemic the number of travel days were approximately 10-30 days per year.

The position is a full-time position based in our head office in Kungsholmen, Stockholm.


Education and experience

You have an academic degree and hold a Master of Science in Engineering/Law/Master of Business Administration or similar. Good knowledge of English both written and spoken is a requirement, knowledge in Swedish is meriting. You have solid experience from the insurance industry and have then acquired a deep understanding of risk management and preferably property / liability insurance.

A suitable background can be Insurance Broker, Risk Manager, Insurance Manager, Underwriter, Claims Adviser or equivalent. In previous positions, we believe you have worked in an international environment and collaborated well with people at different levels and with different backgrounds.
Experience from construction insurance is a plus, but not a requirement.
